Least privilege is not overhead, it is how you protect money
Your finance team shares a login. Your agents access the same spreadsheet. Everyone can see everyone else's commissions, adjust entries, delete rows. You think this is efficient until someone changes a number and there is no way to know who, when, or why. Least privilege, giving each person access only to what they need, is not enterprise overhead. It is how you keep money tools honest.
Shared access is a compliance and trust problem
Most ISO and agent offices run on shared credentials. One finance login across the whole team. One Google Sheet with edit access for anyone who needs to see it. It looks simple until it is not. An agent's commission gets flagged in month two, but by month four it has been edited three times by different people. Nobody knows the original amount. Nobody knows why it changed. You cannot audit it, you cannot defend it, and your agent cannot trust it. The moment money moves through shared access, your trail evaporates.
Least privilege solves this. It means each person in your office gets access only to the data and actions they actually need. Your finance admin sees everything. A team manager sees only her team's entries and can approve them. An agent sees only his own commission record. The system enforces it server-side, not just by hiding columns in the UI. And every change is logged, nothing is ever deleted, and corrections happen by void so the paper trail survives.
